Review

If you want a P2P program to find simple things, meaning music, video, or similar files, and avoid complications with settings and configurations, then FileCroc is an option to try. P2P is almost, if not completely, a copy of the Ares client with the older skin, and operates through a decentralized network with more than 50 million users. It does not say what network it is, but it is clear that it is the Ares network.

For those who ask more than downloading files to their P2P client, FileCroc also offers web browser, chat with multiple rooms in various languages and a player that can play videos and songs before they are completely downloaded.

When FileCroc connects, it allows you to immediately search and download the desired files, and it can also download Torrent files... The real downside is that FileCroc hardly connects to the network: It was tested with three Internet connection types (Dial-up, cable and DSL) and:
Resetting it constantly.
By clicking the Disconnect and Connect buttons every 5 minutes (which eventually worked)
Leaving it in connection process indefinitely for three days.

Unfortunately, this problem leaves it out of any competition in the P2P clients race, but if you are lucky and FileCroc connects quickly in your system, it can be a good option.

Requires Windows 98/98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista
  • None
  • A P2P client which can't connect to its network, is totally useless
